Mini Series

For my last project in art we had to do a mini series involving 3 works related by theme. Since I had always struggled with hair, I decided to focus on it for my mini series. I used a different medium for each; one with watercolor, one with dark graphite, and one with colored pencil. I really enjoyed the color of the water color and the control/texture in the graphite, but I didn't really like using colored pencil. Each medium gave the piece a different feeling, the graphite picture seemed darker and more alone while the watercolor was vibrant and added a different mood than the others. I really enjoyed doing this mini series and I hope to do more in the future.

Transparencies

This is a painting of bottles done by Janet Fish. I really liked the reflections of the bottles in the back being seen in the front bottles. Also the shine and shapes of all of the different light really makes the painting look realistic. I choose this painting because it also is similar to my painting with various bottles.
This is my painting of bottles with colorful liquids inside them. Glass is difficult to paint because of the different colors reflected in the glass and the distorted shapes that form from the glass. However, I enjoyed learning how to make the bottle look transparent and overall I am happy with the finished piece.

Mask #3

This is a sketch of a masquerade mask used for dances. The complex design of the mask is intricate and I would have liked to have done it in color, but I only needed to do a sketch. Since the lines are really detailed, I probably wouldn't have done paint or pastels. Most likely if I were to do a completed piece for this mask, I would have done colored pencils. The mask is originally gold and the diamonds placed throughout the design would have been really cool to have drawn so that the shine/light could have beeen captured better.
